2021 Call for Nominations:

SMRT Policy Board, President-Elect & Society Awards

Nominations Deadline EXTENDED: 21 October 2020 at 23:59 EDT

Submit nominations for the following positions, as well as the four society awards:

  • President-Elect, 1 position available, 1 year term
  • Policy Board Member, 4 positions available, 3-year term
  • Crues-Kressel Award
  • Honorary Membership Award
  • Distinguished Service Award
  • Fellow of the Society

New officers and trustees will assume office on the first day immediately following the SMRT 2021 Annual Meeting. More details can be found in the boxes below.

Policy Board

4 positions available; 3-year term

The Policy Board is the principal governing body of the SMRT and shall exercise full supervision and control over all its business affairs. New officers and board members will assume office on the first day immediately following SMRT’s 2021 Annual Meeting (21 May 2021).

President-Elect

1 position available; 1-year term

The President-Elect shall assist the President and succeed to the Presidency. The President-Elect shall also perform all duties of the President in the event of the President’s absence or inability to serve and such other duties as are designated by the President, Executive Committee or the Policy Board.

Crues-Kressel Award

Nominate an individual for the 2021 SMRT Crues-Kressel Award for their outstanding contributions to education.

The Crues-Kressel Award is bestowed on an individual who consistently makes outstanding contributions to the education of radiographers and technologists by organizing and promoting education both internationally and on a local level.

To be eligible for this award, the candidate:

  • Does not need to be a member of the SMRT
  • Is not a current member of the SMRT Executive Committee or Policy Board
  • Is not a previous recipient of this award

Honorary Membership

The Honorary Membership Award is bestowed on an individual in recognition of extraordinary achievement and an exceptional level of service and support for the society and the mission of the SMRT.

Distinguished Service

The Distinguished Service Award is bestowed on an individual in recognition of outstanding contributions and extreme level of effort and service to the operation, effectiveness, and good reputation of the Society.

Fellow of the Society

The Fellow of the Society Award is bestowed on an individual(s) in recognition of significant and substantial contributions to the mission of the SMRT over the course of at least five (5) years, including participation in the Annual Meetings, Regional Meetings, Publications, and contributions to the development of the Society.

Timeline for 2021 Executive Nominations

SMRT has established the following timeline for the nomination process. Dates listed below are for the 2020 calendar year.

25 September Call for Nominations is provided to the membership.
21 October Nomination Deadline
14-21 October Nominations are reviewed by SMRT staff. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements are provided with an online link to the written application, reference form and the guide for nominees.
26 October Deadline for nominees to submit applications and supporting information including candidate position statements.
26 Oct-06 Nov Interviews are conducted via Zoom with qualified candidates by members of the SMRT Nominations Committee.
07-11 November The Nominations Committee meets via teleconference to review candidate application materials, results of phone interviews and reference letters. After careful deliberation, the Committee selects candidates for the President-Elect and Board members and reports to the President and Executive Director no later than 14 November.
By 18 November Ballot is opened to membership for vote of proposed candidates.
18 December Membership vote for President-Elect and Board members closes.
18 December Votes are verified by office staff.
20-30 December Elected President-Elect and Board members are notified by President and Executive Director.

Timeline for 2021 Awards Nominations

14-21 October Nominations are reviewed by SMRT staff. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements are provided with an online link to the accomplishments form.
26 October Deadline for nominees to submit accomplishments form and supporting information
26 Oct-06 Nov The Awards Committee meets to review the candidates’ application materials. After careful deliberation, the Committee selects candidates for Crues-Kressel, Honorary Membership, Distinguished Service, Fellow of the Society and Outstanding Service to a Chapter/Division and reports to the President and Executive Director no later than 10 November.
By 13 November Ballot is opened to Policy Board for vote of Honorary Membership, Distinguished Service, Fellow of the Society and Outstanding Service to a Chapter/Division candidates.
20 November Policy Board vote for Honorary Membership, Distinguished Service, Fellow of the Society and Outstanding Service to a Chapter/Division closes.
18 December Membership vote for Crues-Kressel closes.
18 December Votes are verified by office staff.
20-30 December President and Associate Executive Director notify elected Award winners.
