2022 Call for Nominations:
SMRT Policy Board, President-Elect & Society Awards
Nomination Deadline EXTENDED:
The Nominating Committee of the Society for MR Radiographers & Technologists (SMRT) invites members of the SMRT to nominate SMRT colleagues for the office of President-Elect as well as the Policy Board. Those elected will commence service in May 2022. These nominations must be received by the deadline noted above, at the Society’s Central Office. The nomination, and subsequent selection, of appropriate individuals who are willing to commit time and energy to the ongoing governance of the Society is critical to its future health, and the general membership is encouraged to help in this task.
In addition, the Awards Committee of the SMRT invites members of the SMRT to submit the names of potential nominees for the awards of the SMRT. Awards will be bestowed at the ISMRM & SMRT Conference in May 2022. These nominations must be received by the deadline noted above, at the Society’s Central Office.
Submit nominations for the following positions, as well as the five society awards:
- President-Elect, 1 position available, 1 year term
- Policy Board Member, 3 positions available, 3-year term
- Crues-Kressel Award
- Honorary Membership Award
- Distinguished Service Award
- Fellow of the Society
- Outstanding Service to a Chapter/Division
New officers and trustees will assume office on the first day immediately following the SMRT 2022 Annual Meeting. More details can be found in the boxes below.

Policy Board
3 positions available; 3-year term
The Policy Board is the principal governing body of the SMRT and shall exercise full supervision and control over all its business affairs. New officers and board members will assume office on the first day immediately following SMRT’s 2022 Annual Meeting (10 May 2022).
President-Elect
1 position available; 1-year term
The President-Elect shall assist the President and succeed to the Presidency. The President-Elect shall also perform all duties of the President in the event of the President’s absence or inability to serve and such other duties as are designated by the President, Executive Committee or the Policy Board.
Crues-Kressel Award
Nominate an individual for the 2022 SMRT Crues-Kressel Award for their outstanding contributions to education.
The Crues-Kressel Award is bestowed on an individual who consistently makes outstanding contributions to the education of radiographers and technologists by organizing and promoting education both internationally and on a local level.
To be eligible for this award, the candidate:
- Does not need to be a member of the SMRT
- Is not a current member of the SMRT Executive Committee or Policy Board
- Is not a previous recipient of this award
Honorary Membership
The Honorary Membership Award is bestowed on an individual in recognition of extraordinary achievement and an exceptional level of service and support for the society and the mission of the SMRT.
To be eligible for this award, the candidate:
- Does not need to be a member of the SMRT
- Is not a previous recipient of this award
Distinguished Service
The Distinguished Service Award is bestowed on an individual in recognition of outstanding contributions and extreme level of effort and service to the operation, effectiveness, and good reputation of the Society.
To be eligible for this award, the candidate:
- Must be a member in good standing of the SMRT
- Is not a previous recipient of this award
Fellow of the Society
The Fellow of the Society Award is bestowed on an individual(s) in recognition of significant and substantial contributions to the mission of the SMRT over the course of at least five (5) years, including participation in the Annual Meetings, Regional Meetings, Publications, and contributions to the development of the Society.
To be eligible for this award, the candidate:
- Must be a member in good standing of the SMRT
- Is not a previous recipient of this award
Outstanding Service to a Chapter/Division
Outstanding Service to a Chapter/Division Award is bestowed on an individual in recognition of The Outstanding contributions and extreme level of effort and service to the operation and effectiveness of the Chapter/Division.
To be eligible for this award, the candidate:
- Must be a current SMRT voting member in good standing;
- Is not a current Executive Committee member, SMRT Board members
- Is not a previous recipient of this award
Timeline for 2022 Executive Nominations
SMRT has established the following timeline for the nomination process. Dates listed below are for the 2021 calendar year.
09 August | Call for Nominations is provided to the membership. |
29 September |
Nomination Deadline EXTENDED (see top of page for this deadline in your local time zone) |
03-20 September | Nominations are reviewed by SMRT Central Office staff. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements are provided with an online link to the written application, reference form and the guide for nominees. |
20 October |
Deadline EXTENDED for nominees to submit applications and supporting information including candidate position statements. |
25-29 October | Interviews are conducted via Zoom with qualified candidates by members of the SMRT Nominations Committee. |
01-05 November | The Nominations Committee meets via teleconference to review candidate application materials, results of phone interviews and reference letters. After careful deliberation, the Committee selects candidates for the President-Elect and Board members and reports to the President and Executive Director no later than 10 November. |
By 10 November | Ballot is opened to membership for vote of proposed candidates. |
06 December | Membership vote for President-Elect and Board members closes. |
09-10 December | Votes are verified by Central Office staff. |
13-14 December | Elected President-Elect and Board members are notified by President and Executive Director. |

After careful deliberation, the Committee selects candidates for Crues-Kressel, Honorary Membership, Distinguished Service, Fellow of the Society and Outstanding Service to a Chapter/Division and reports to the President and Executive Director no later than 10 November. |
By 10 November | Ballot is opened to Policy Board for vote of Honorary Membership, Distinguished Service, Fellow of the Society and Outstanding Service to a Chapter/Division candidates. |
06 December | Policy Board vote for Honorary Membership, Distinguished Service, Fellow of the Society and Outstanding Service to a Chapter/Division closes. Membership vote for Crues-Kressel closes. |
09-10 December | Votes are verified by Central Office staff. |
13-14 December | President and Executive Director notify elected Award winners. |
